Open Day 5th March 2011

Following on from our open day on the 5th March I thought that for those that were unable to attend I would do a little write up. As you can imagine the team and I were unable to take alot of photos during the day so I have managed to get a few together from people that had attended, but most were towards to end of the day. We must of had at least 80 people attend from various car forums and fans of Juicy Detailing

Prepartion before the saturday going to get the grub and thought we'd never make it in time due to a bad accident on the A1

OP1

Our day started at 7am preparing the gazebo's, banners, wash facilities and setting out the food.....

OP12

So once everybody had arrived and had enjoyed some initial refreshments the first demonstration got under way using the A6.....recently I've had alot of questions regarding wheel cleaning and protection so I felt that it was a worthy exercise spending a little time on the alloys. Concentrating on just a section of the outer rim as to be honest Andrew's car was in a bit of a state and it was going to take a lot longer than I had anticipated. In an ideal world these would be removed

OP13

The wheel was intially sprayed using Valet Pro Bilberry Wheel Cleaner and agitated using a Vikan Long Reach Wheel Brush and a EuroW Wheel Mitt for the face and to get within the spokes

OP14

Rinsed after initial wheel clean

OP15

This shows that even though the wheels have been cleaning using the Bilberry that there was still quite a lot of contamination & tar present after washing

OP16

To remove the tar contamination I used Dodo Juice Tarmalade which was applied with a microfibre left for approximately 10 minutes and then rubbed in. The majority was removed however the larger lump of tar needed another application to be removed fully

OP17

Once the larger pieces of tar had been removed the wheel was washed and rinsed, I then proceeded to clay the area using fine yellow poly clay. Again after washing and drying the next step was to protect with Chemical Guys Jetseal 109, this is the end result

OP18

The next demonstration was for those that had not attended the last open day and were interested in learning about the proper wash technique....this was our test subject

OP19

The wheels were initially applied with Valet Pro Bilberry wheel cleaner

OP20

Pre-wash - Snowfoam

OP21

Dirt coming from foam

OP22

After the car had been rinsed off we prepared to wash the car using the 2 bucket method using a lambswool wash mitt

OP23

then applied some further Bilberry wheel cleaner to the wheels and agitated with the Vikan Long Reach wheel brush

OP24

OP25

I roped in the owner to doing some work - the shampoo we used was Chemical Guys Glossworkz Shampoo...

OP26

Rinsed

OP27

We have a variety of different drying towels available so this was just a little demo showing how they perform. We used Dri U Kwik 173; Chemical Guys Miracle Dryer; Chemical Guys Wooly Mammoth and the Juicy Fluffy Drying towel, also to give some tips on the best way to dry and avoid scratching the paint.  Meaning "pat" don't rub or drag.

OP28

Once the car was completely dry the next demonstration was regarding claying a car, including the how's and why for so. Using our own Juicy Beginners Clay Kit I split the bar in to three pieces and sprayed some Juicy Lube liberally on to the bonnet. Elaine had not clayed her car for a few years so their was plenty of contamination.

OP29

Once completed the bonnet was wiped down and this is the result.....the most noticable difference was the feel - now uber smooth. Plus it has brightend up the gorgeous Arden paint

OP30

The next stage was application of Chemical Guys EZ Creme which is a glaze adding gloss and depth to the paintwork, however it does not contain any protection. Another advantage of this product is it helps to apply a bonding agent between the bare paintwork and the last stage protection such as either a wax or a sealant depending on preference and helps to extend durability

OP31

OP32

To finish off the bonnet I used Chemical Guys Pete's 53 Wax with a Chemical Guys UFO Wax Foam Applicator

OP33

Waiting to cure.....

OP35

Now came the exciting bit the 'Team Event'.....putting into action everything they had just seen we selected two vehicles which had been previously pre-washed, washed and dried. As there didn't seem to be many volunteers we chose Colin's Red Astra VXR and Ian's Black Astra 1.9 150. Splitting the teams in to six each they got about claying first...

OP36

OP37

After the claying process the Red Team was given Dodo Juice Lime Prime as a pre-wax cleanser and as the last stage product Prima Banana Gloss Liquid Wax. For the Black Team they were given Chemical Guys Ez Creme for a glaze and Chemical Guys Black Light Radient Finish as a sealant
